Teaching Experience & Qualifications:
Hi, my name is Alicia & I am the founder, director, and teacher of Happy Haven Homeschoolers. Happy Haven began from a very personal place. Before becoming a mom to my twin girls, I spent years working in education and teaching in the public school system. I have always loved working with children, but motherhood shifted my priorities and inspired me to find a way to keep doing what I love while having more time with my family.
After lots of prayer and brainstorming, what began as a small, flexible idea grew into something far greater than I ever imagined. With more than 12 years of teaching experience and education-based degrees from Florida State University and the University of West Florida, I bring both professional experience and a mom’s perspective to everything we do.
My vision for Happy Haven was to create a place where homeschoolers could enjoy the best parts of a school community: wonderful teachers, friendships, hands-on learning, field trips, performances, special events, and plenty of fun- while still keeping the flexibility and heart that make homeschooling so special.
Happy Haven has truly become a labor of love. My greatest hope is that every child who walks through our doors feels welcomed, included, excited to learn, and most importantly, like they belong.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and excited to learn, and I strive to create a classroom where children can grow in confidence, discover their strengths, have fun, make mistakes, and learn that some of the best growth happens along the way.
