No. Happy Haven is a homeschool enrichment program designed to support the education students receive at home.
Usually, no. Because Happy Haven is an enrichment program, our teachers typically plan lessons around skills and standards that are appropriate for the age and grade range of each class. We then build engaging, hands-on activities and experiences around those concepts. Occasionally, teachers may use a specific curriculum, book, or resource as a foundation or inspiration when planning lessons.
No. Happy Haven is designed to supplement, not replace, your child’s core homeschool curriculum. Because most of our classes meet only once per week and often include students from multiple grade levels, it would not be possible to cover everything a child is expected to learn in a subject during an entire school year. Families are expected to complete their child’s core academic studies at home while using Happy Haven classes as an opportunity for enrichment, hands-on learning, socialization, creativity, and additional academic support.
Happy Haven is a drop-off program. Parents are welcome to wait in their vehicles or at the picnic tables located outside the classroom area if they prefer to remain nearby. There are also several great coffee shops and places to visit in the surrounding area!
Absolutely! While many families choose to register their child for a full day of classes, all Happy Haven classes are offered à la carte. Families may select as few or as many classes as work best for their child and schedule.
Happy Haven currently serves students in grades K–10.
Our current tuition rate is $20 per instructional hour. Happy Haven provides families with a payment schedule showing each payment period and its corresponding due date. Each payment typically covers several weeks of classes at a time, generally ranging from approximately four to nine weeks depending on the semester calendar. We never want the payment schedule itself to prevent a family from participating. If your family does not receive a scholarship or would benefit from making smaller payments, please reach out to us. We are happy to discuss available options and work toward a payment arrangement that is manageable for your family while also meeting Happy Haven’s needs.
Yes! Happy Haven is a direct provider through Step Up For Students.
We currently accept Zelle and Venmo.
Students should bring a backpack containing a three-ring binder with pocket dividers or tabs and lined paper. Students who will be on campus during the scheduled lunch period should also bring a packed lunch and drink. Certain classes may require additional supplies, such as a composition notebook or other class-specific materials. Families should watch for emails from their child’s teacher regarding anything additional that may be needed.
Happy Haven classes are held at CLF Church in Newberry, Florida. 19817 W. Newberry Rd. Newberry, FL
Happy Haven currently offers classes for students in grades K–6 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning at 9:00 AM and ending between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM, depending on the day. Classes for students in grades 6–10 are currently offered on Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Families should refer to the current semester schedule for exact class times.
You will register for classes on this website under the registration tab. You’ll be able to view how many spots are still available in each class before you go through the registration process. A $50 material fee will be due upon registration to hold your child’s spot. Happy Haven leadership will reach out to you after you complete registration.
Happy Haven tuition is paid by scheduled payment periods rather than by individual attendance. Because your child’s space in the class is reserved throughout the semester, refunds or credits are not generally available for individual missed classes. If your child misses a class, they are welcome to simply rejoin their class at the next scheduled meeting.
Happy Haven generally maintains a no-refund policy once registration and tuition commitments have been made. However, we understand that unexpected and significant circumstances can arise. Families are always welcome to contact Happy Haven leadership if a special situation occurs, and we will review those circumstances individually whenever possible.
Happy Haven believes that some of the best learning and community-building happens beyond the classroom! Throughout each semester, we offer a variety of special events and experiences designed to give students and families additional opportunities to learn, connect, celebrate, and make memories together. Depending on the semester, these may include guest speaker events, student showcases and performances, school picture day, field trips, family gatherings, our Thanksgiving celebration, service projects, themed events, and other special activities throughout the year. Some events are included as part of the Happy Haven experience, while others may require separate registration or an additional fee. Families will receive information about upcoming opportunities throughout the semester.
Happy Haven leadership coordinates optional field trips and special experiences throughout the year. Families will receive information and registration details by email, including the location, cost, arrival information, expectations, and any other important details. Families interested in attending will complete the provided sign-up process and submit any required payment by the stated deadline.
Yes. Because Happy Haven is an enrichment program specifically designed to serve the homeschool community, participating students should be homeschooled students.
Happy Haven is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students with a variety of learning needs. We are often able to provide reasonable academic and classroom accommodations, such as adjusted directions, additional processing time, seating considerations, movement breaks, visual supports, and other strategies depending on the needs of the student and the structure of the class. Because Happy Haven is an enrichment program and not a specialized therapeutic or special education facility, there may be some medical, behavioral, mobility, personal-care, or one-on-one support needs that are outside the scope of what our staff can safely provide. If your child requires specific accommodations or additional support, we encourage you to contact us before registration. We would love to learn more about your child and discuss what supports may be possible so we can determine together whether Happy Haven is an appropriate and successful fit.
Student safety is extremely important to Happy Haven. Classroom doors remain locked during instructional hours, and students are not permitted to leave classroom areas without adult supervision. Students are also taught that only authorized adults should open classroom doors unless a teacher gives specific permission or direction. Happy Haven also uses an organized dismissal procedure. Families are provided with a student pickup form to display or present at the designated pickup location. Teachers dismiss students individually to their authorized parent or guardian. Additional safety procedures and expectations may be communicated to families throughout the school year as needed.
Yes, we are!
In addition to Happy Haven teachers, staff, students, and approved visitors, several members of the CLF Church staff may also be present on campus during the week. These typically include Pastor Gary, Mrs. Linda, Mrs. Michelle, and Mrs. Roberta, who help operate and care for the church and its facilities throughout the week.
Most Happy Haven classes do not include traditional homework. Because our program is designed to provide enrichment and hands-on learning experiences, the majority of classwork is completed during class time. However, certain classes may occasionally ask students to complete something at home, such as reading assigned pages, practicing for a performance, finishing a project, preparing a short presentation, or bringing a specific item or material to the next class. Families will always be notified when something needs to be completed or brought from home.
Yes! We are happy to welcome prospective families who would like to see Happy Haven in person before registering. Tours are available by appointment during our regular operating hours. A Happy Haven teacher or coordinator will show you around, answer questions, and give you an opportunity to see our learning spaces and get a feel for the Happy Haven environment. Because classes are actively taking place during tour times, an appointment is required so we can make sure a staff member is available to meet with you.
Email is Happy Haven's primary form of communication with families. Important information regarding classes, teacher updates, events, field trips, payment reminders, schedule changes, special activities, and other announcements will typically be sent by email. Parents and guardians are responsible for regularly checking the email address provided during registration and reviewing communications from Happy Haven leadership and their child's teachers. We also recommend checking your spam or junk folder periodically to make sure important Happy Haven emails are not being missed.
Happy Haven strives to create a welcoming, positive, and safe environment where every student can learn, participate, and enjoy being part of our community. Students are expected to treat teachers, staff, classmates, church property, and classroom materials with kindness and respect. They are also expected to follow teacher directions, participate safely, and make choices that allow everyone in the classroom to learn and feel comfortable. We understand that children are still learning and developing, and occasional mistakes or difficult moments are a normal part of growing up. Teachers will redirect students, provide reminders, and work with them to make better choices whenever possible. If a behavior becomes repeated, disruptive, unsafe, or significantly interferes with the learning environment, Happy Haven leadership will communicate with the child's parent or guardian so we can work together on a plan. In situations where a student's needs or behaviors cannot be safely supported within our program, Happy Haven may determine that a particular class or program is not the appropriate fit.
Class sizes vary depending on the age group, type of class, activity, instructor, and available classroom space. Most Happy Haven classes have approximately 15 students. We intentionally place limits on class enrollment so teachers can provide students with meaningful instruction, hands-on experiences, interaction, and individual support while maintaining a comfortable and manageable classroom environment.
